So, I have reached my UGW, the ever unattainable number that I never thought I would see again on a scale, even when I started this journey seven and a half months ago.
Now I’m here.
What’s next, then? Maintenance. It’s almost harder than actually losing weight for me. I’ve always fluctuated a lot up and down, never been very good at holding steady. It’s tough to make sure I eat just enough to maintain. I don’t want to keep losing and I don’t want to gain it back, either.
It’s especially tough while in a new relationship (almost two months now! :D) since I’m eating out 3-4 times a week. I find myself under-eating on days I don’t see the boy in an effort to counter-balance the extra calories I get from restaurant food. Not drastically under-eating of course, but eating less than normal nonetheless.
Keeping up a steady workout routine is also hard when balancing a full time job, a romantic relationship, and maintaining friendships. I’m just about managing two good workouts a week now, though sometimes one slips by when things come up.
EDIT: I would just like to note that I reached the UGW a month ago or thereabouts and have been maintaining mostly successfully so far. :)
My laptop is dead and off with the computer doctor (this explains my awesome long absence from tumblr).

last thursday was my birthday!
i have had a simply stupendous birthday weekend.
not so healthy (what with all the eating out and imbibing delicious adult beverages) but all in all, could have been much worse. :)
and now back to our regularly scheduled programming!

Yesterday I ran my first ever real official 5k race.
I PLACED 3RD IN MY DIVISION!!!
I wasn’t even running my fastest since I was running with the Best Friend who is a bit slower than I am, and I came in 3rd overall for the W20-24 division!
Really, it was only a fluke that there wasn’t anyone faster, since the spread between me and 2nd place was about 3 minutes, but still I was suuuuuper excited! It was awesome.
Official race time put me at 27:56 for time, but I clocked the race at 3.36 miles. I ran an average pace of 8:15/mi which is a match to my fastest 5k run so far, and I definitely could have gone faster and been fine!
(Then I got cleaned up and went over to a friend’s house and snuggled with my boy for a few hours holy moly life is grand.)

Today I am officially ticking off Goal Weight 3.
For the past week or so the scale has been showing me anything from 129.5-131.2 so I feel safe in the assumption that I have successfully hit 131 lbs and I’m not just dehydrated. (This morning the scale actually told me 128.5 but I can tell I’m hella dehydrated so it hardly counts.)
It feels fabulous to actually make real progress. In a bit I will probably take some new progress pictures and post them up here for anyone who cares to see.
I’ve just done my measurements (which I haven’t done since I was a questionable 138 lbs) so here they are!
Left Bicep - WAS: 12 - NOW: 11.5
Right Bicep - WAS: 12 - NOW: 11.5
Left Thigh - WAS: 22 - NOW: 20.5
Right Thigh - WAS: 22.25 - NOW: 20.5
Neck - WAS: 12.75 - NOW: 12.5
Chest - WAS: 36 - NOW: 35
Waist - WAS: 28 - NOW: 27

I’m running my first 5k this Saturday!
I won’t be on again until Sunday, so I will do a recap then.

recently it seems that all of my shorts are almost laughably too big.
i can’t decide if i should start replacing them now, or wait until next summer since soon i won’t really be wearing them much anymore.
definitely going to need to buy some new work pants.

i went out with the boy from my previous post.
he bought me drinks (even though i was prepared to buy my own) and paid for our games of pool and then he bought my dinner.
then he kissed me goodnight.
i may be in love. completely unrelated to the buying me things thing. sigh. so happy.
